Ronke Owens aka Young Roc was born in Detroit, MI in 1989. He was raised there by his mother and great grandparents. His first rap was said in his Dads Record Store & Studio at the age of 10.
After living the first few years of his life with his great grandparents him and his mother departed away to the outskirts of Detroit Southfield, MI where he attended elementary school from 1995-2000. Later down the line his mother gets married to his stepfather and thats when he moves back to Detroit were he learned how to make beats, write, mix, master and create songs. At the young age of 12 the creative mind used to make songs on a karaoke machine and rap over used industry beats. As the passion for music grew on him he started getting more in to tune with his flow and eventually started to get better. By the age of 14 him and long-time friend Aaron Howell aka A.Butta, would spend hours of their time making songs on the computer, using nothing but industry beats and computer microphone. People picked up on the talent the young rappers had so they invested in studio time for the rap duo. By the age of 16 Young Rocs father invested in a studio for the two, in which sparked the idea for him to start making his own beats. Being the dedicated musician he was, he and A.Butta dropped their first mix-tape in 2007 called We Next Up which every beat was produced by young roc. After that he went college in Iowa where he earned a football scholarship. Then just when things seem to be going the best, he witness the most tragic moment of his life with the passing of his mother and grandfather. With faith and strength to go on He didnt stop there the love for music and the hunger for success continued as he still to this day makes beats and has a buzz around the area of Detroit, MI for making incredible music. In 2008 he dropped his first mix-tape called The Seminar that included the songs What You Like and Unhappy which landed over 5 million Views on YouTube. In 2009 he launched his first web site called www.YoungRoc.com to display his music and other work to his fan base from all over the world. He recently just dropped his second & third mix-tape called The Orientation 2 & 3. Young Roc has potential to be one of the best rapper/producers of all-time with his creativeness; he is still dedicated to signing to a record label and has a lot of support from family and friends.
